Highlights of our area include:

     Cherokee National Forest offers over 600 miles of trails including 150 miles of Appalachian National Scenic Trail, hundreds of cold water streams, 7 whitewater rivers, 3 very large lakes, 11 wilderness areas, 30 developed campgrounds and 45 day-use sites. This forest is home to 43 species of mammals, 154 species of fish, 55 species of amphibians, and 262 species of birds. Cherokee National Forest

     Ocoee River was the site of the 1996 Summer Olympics’Kayaking Competitions. There are miles of challenging and exciting Class III and IV rapids on one of the country's premier rivers. You can take white water rafting trips down the Ocoee by yourself or in a group with a guide. There are three dams, two powerhouses, and a 100 year old wooden water slough that runs along the gorges upper walls. www.ocoeeriver.ws/

     The Cleveland/Bradley County Greenway runs along Mouse Creek. It stretches from the Village Green shopping center to, when completed, the Hiwassee River in Charleston. Highlights of the Greenway include an 18-space parking area at the north end of Harris Circle, three pedestrian bridges that cross Mouse Creek, four underpasses (Keith Street, 17th, 20th and 25th Streets), and a connection to the Prayer Walk Plaza at the Church of God International Offices.

     Greenways are corridors of land that connect people and places. These trails can be paved or unpaved, and can be designed to accommodate a variety of trail users, including bicyclists, walkers, hikers, joggers, skaters, horseback riders, and those confined to wheelchairs.
