Lately Toyota has been in the news for reasons many of us would never have considered and the word “recall” is all the rage in the media. Many sources have done their best to take a commonplace action such as a recall and create fear and uncertainty among the public with unprecedented sensational news coverage. They have been successful but not for the reasons you may think. This has happened because historically Toyota has had very few quality and safety related issues when compared to the other automotive manufacturers and the statistics proves this since the time that records of complaints have been kept by the government. Combine this fact with the reality that you have the world’s number one auto company involved, add in a few slow news days and suddenly you have a “newsworthy” story. Thousands of safety recalls involving hundreds of millions of motor vehicles have been issued by the automotive manufacturers (including Toyota) in cooperation with NHTSA and have gone largely unpublicized until now.

With Toyota seemingly on the ropes, other manufacturers and dealers are using all sorts of advertising ploys and incentives to target Toyota owners. Sadly some have even resorted to scare tactics in a desperate attempt to sell a few more cars. I would strongly encourage current Toyota owners not to panic and make a poor decision as a result of these predatory marketing efforts.

Any issue that has the potential to affect the safety and satisfaction of our consumers is of paramount importance to us.
