There's new cars and then there is used, each has its advantages. Now Toyota of Cleveland gives you a third option, Toyota Certified. You get the peace of mind and factory warranty that comes with a new vehicle and the lower price of used! Toyota Certified, because...

THE BEST NEW CARS MAKE THE BEST USED CARS

.

We know that the idea of buying a used Toyota is attractive to you. After all, getting a high-quality, low-mileage Toyota at a great price is a smart move. But we also understand your concerns. So to give you complete peace of mind, we created the Toyota Certified Used Vehicle program. It assures you the best new cars do indeed make the best used cars. Here’s how:

We begin by selecting only vehicles which are within six years of the current model year and have less than 85,000 miles. Each vehicle is then subjected to a 160-Point Quality Assurance Inspection and receives a CARFAX® Vehicle History Report.™ The result is a collection of the best of the best certified used vehicles.

What else makes a Toyota Certified Used Vehicle a smart choice? Every TCUV is eligible for standard new-car financing rates from Toyota Financial Services and each comes with a Toyota factory warranty which is honored at over 1,400 Toyota dealers in the U.S. and Canada.

No wonder why millions of cars have been sold through the Toyota Certified Used Vehicle Program since 1996. It’s the smart choice.

Musings from the Internet Department

Fuel economy, what’s the fuel economy of this model! As a car salesman that’s all I hear! Everyone is focused on saving money at the pump. The price of oil is at an all time high and it’s the lead story every day in the news. We all know about the many factors that affect its price. Of course there is demand, the value of the dollar, stability in the Middle East but the biggest among them is supply. O.P.E.C. can control how much we get in the short term but long term we need to realize that there is not a limitless supply! O.K. I get it! What I don’t get is the ridiculous extremes that people are turning to. “I’ve got an 18’ trailer, how much weight can a Yaris tow?” “When is Toyota coming out with the plug-in/hybrid/flex fuel/hydrogen/solar powered/wind up Corolla?” “Do you guys sell used horses?” Enough! I can’t even get any relief at home! My wife asked if we shouldn’t trade in our Sienna Mini van for a Corolla. I explained that our needs require us to have a Mini van! With the kids, their friends, ball equipment etc. we would need to take two cars to accommodate it all. How is that saving money? If you are thinking about adding/replacing a vehicle here is some friendly advice. You first have to take stock of your situation. How do you plan on using your vehicle?

1) How many people will be riding with you? How often?

So many times customers will tell me about their need for a big SUV. On further analysis I’ll find that what is stated as a need is more often a want. Vanity> $$ = SUV. If this is your situation, fine, don’t complain about gas prices! For the occasional trip, where there is a need to accommodate, family, friends and luggage renting might prove to be your best option. Maybe taking two vehicles several times a year would be more cost effective. Do you remember the details of your last vacation? If you’re like most people you probably over packed. Try to remember what you didn’t use? How and what you pack may provide some answers. Do you make use of a luggage rack, small hauler?

2) What would you be hauling? How often?

To a home owner a truck can be very useful, hauling mulch, trips to Lowe’s etc. However, it’s not the most practical daily driver. In this case why not buy a good used one, pay cash, just pay for liability insurance and use a more economical vehicle year round? Do you have a friend that owns one? Would they let you borrow it? If your final assessment is that you need a truck, just buy enough truck to accommodate the task at hand. Otherwise, if Machismo>$$= BIG TRUCK don’t complain about gas prices!

3) How many miles do you drive in a year? What percentage is City/Hwy? How long do you normally keep a vehicle?

The fuel economy rating has supplanted price at being the first number(s) that people notice on any window sticker. It is an average based upon new government testing procedures that have been recalculated for all 2008 models. Real world, what you would achieve could be higher or lower depending upon where and how you drive. While just a guide it can be a very useful baseline when comparing different models. Of the two numbers City/Hwy., the number that everyone focuses on is of course is the highway rating. How helpful would this be if the majority of your driving is around town? For a more accurate snapshot of your annual fuel consumption/cost I suggest going to fueleconomy.gov. This site has a useful tool where you can compare different cars side-by side. You can customize it based upon how many miles you drive annually, percentage driven city and highway, factoring in the current price of fuel. As you might imagine I have many people that believe that buying the Prius (48 City 45 Hwy) is the answer. The average American driver drives 15 thousand miles a year, 45% of which is city and 55% highway. Based upon the current National price of gas ($3.79), the average American would spend $1,234 annually and use 7.4 barrels of oil. When you contrast this with a Corolla (27 City 35 Hwy.) it works out to be $1,893 annually and 11.4 barrels of oil. The Prius would save you $659 a year. When you consider that the Prius is about $6,000 more you would have to drive over nine years before you would break even! Obviously your driving pattern may be different. From a standpoint of overall gas savings I would suggest plugging in your numbers to draw a comparison. In the end there are other factors that need to be considered before buying a Prius. As Americans we need to take a stand, do our part for ourselves and our community. Yes, from an ecological standpoint the Prius leaves the smallest footprint. It’s just that the Corolla is only a half a size larger!
